Trunks and Torsos
Trees have their own unique stately presence, each one a unique character. I particularly love the old and wisened trees that have seen many decades as they silently watch over their territory. For me, trees become friends. Beech and Sugar Maple surround me in favorite gardens, while others stay with me as memories from childhood tree houses and rope swings.
I drew and painted the Turret Tree every day for a month and each day a very different painting emerged. I grew to appreciate the calming influence of this simple act of observing nature and how this ritual can bring self-awareness.
